The room Sam Morikizono took over in 2001, on the street San Diego goes to for ramen. It was already called Tajima. It is still the room the rest of the house grew out of.

The room sits on Convoy Street in Kearny Mesa, in San Diego's Pan-Asian district, and it has held its corner of it since 2001. Lot parking.

Tajima Ramen Mercury is the other Kearny Mesa room, a short way up the road, and it is the bigger of the two.

Where the house started.

The original.

In 2001, Sam took over a small Japanese restaurant on Convoy Street. The name was already on the door. Convoy is San Diego's Pan-Asian district, and this room has held its corner of it for twenty-five years. Read the whole story on the About page.

Do you take reservations?
No. Every Tajima room is walk-in. Mercury takes group bookings by phone.
Do you have vegan ramen?
Yes. The Vegan Ramen is built on house-made spinach noodles, marinated tofu and a soy-based broth.
Is there a gluten-free noodle?
No. There is no gluten-free noodle in any bowl. Some dishes can be prepared without gluten, so ask the floor.
What allergens are on the menu?
Soy, wheat, shellfish, egg and dairy are all present across the menu.
Can I order online?
Yes, every room has its own ordering page, and takeout runs at all of them. Delivery is through third-party apps and varies by room.
How do you pay?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and cash.

Better noodles weren't for sale. So we made them.

The noodles are made in our own Noodle Room in Crown Point, and the broth is simmered there every morning and driven out before service.
